Erin Burnett Exposes Putin: A History of Broken Promises

CNN's Erin Burnett took a deep dive into Russian President Vladimir Putin's history of breaking deals, following former U.S. President Donald Trump's assertion that he believes Putin will not "violate his word" on Ukraine. Burnett's analysis comes as Trump appears to shift his stance on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, softening his tone during a meeting and joint press conference with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer at the White House.

Burnett highlighted multiple instances where Putin has reneged on agreements, citing past conflicts and geopolitical maneuvers that have undermined international treaties and assurances. From the 2014 annexation of Crimea to Russia's withdrawal from key arms control agreements, Putin has repeatedly demonstrated a willingness to break commitments when it suits his strategic interests.

The segment also scrutinized Trump's confidence in Putin's promises, contrasting it with expert analysis and historical evidence. Many foreign policy experts argue that trusting Putin's word on Ukraine is risky, given his record of disregarding diplomatic commitments. The discussion underscored concerns among U.S. allies about how Trump's statements might impact Western support for Ukraine in its ongoing conflict with Russia.

During the White House press conference, Trump took a noticeably different approach toward Zelensky, whom he had previously criticized. Standing alongside UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Trump expressed a more measured stance, though he stopped short of offering full-throated support for Ukraine. This shift in tone raised questions about the former president’s evolving position on the conflict and its potential implications for U.S. foreign policy.

Burnett's report emphasized the broader geopolitical stakes, pointing out that Putin’s track record suggests a pattern of using negotiations as strategic tools rather than commitments to be honored. The analysis left viewers with an important question: Can Putin’s word truly be trusted, or is history doomed to repeat itself?

"The President decided that this was the right thing to do and the right time to do it," says Pentagon Press Secy. John Kirby of the US deploying 3000 troops to Afghanistan to help evacuate personnel.

"A prudent decision to scope down, to reduce our civilian footprint in Kabul, while we still have an environment where we can do that safely. So that's what the US military is going to be doing." says Pentagon Press Secy. John Kirby of the US deploying 3000 troops to Afghanistan to help evacuate personnel.

McCain torched the execution of the military withdrawal and the turmoil that has been caused on the ground, taking a swipe at President Biden.

"Even if you thought leaving Afghanistan was the right decision -this is a reckless, dangerous, blundering, and embarrassing withdrawal," McCain began a series of tweets. "We left our translators, women, children, people who helped us for 20 years to be slaughtered & our president just called a lid until Wednesday."

McCain then invoked her father, the late U.S. Sen. John McCain, insisting he'd be enraged with the Biden administration's decision to pull the troops out of Afghanistan.

"Democrats like to wax poetic a lot about what my dad would have done and said (most of the time reinventing some weird fantasy of who he was). Let me tell you one god damn thing - he would be raging in public and to President Biden about this withdrawal in Afghanistan. Raging," McCain wrote.

"This is an absolutely shameful moment for our country. Shame on this administration. God be with our allies and the women and children in Afghanistan," she added.

The conservative pundit also predicted the return of the Islamic State, writing "Also - welcome to ISIS 3.0. Give credit to the Biden administration."

McCain officially bowed out of the ABC daytime program after appearing as the go-to conservative co-host for nearly four years.

She had been outspoken with her criticism against President Biden for what she suggested was his lack of support for Israel, his "Neatherthal thinking" swipe at Republican Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, and for having Dr. Anthony Fauci as the face of the administration's messaging on the coronavirus outbreak.

CNN's Erin Burnett : President Trump calls Dr. Birx pathetic after she tells the truth

CNN's Erin Burnett criticizes President Donald Trump for saying coronavirus task force member Deborah Birx was "pathetic" for caving to Democrats after she after she warned the pandemic is "extraordinarily widespread" in the US.

Trump has insisted that the rising number of COVID-19 cases is merely the result of increased testing and not an indication that the spread of the disease has gotten worse, but Birx said that the country was in a "new phase" of the pandemic.

"So Crazy Nancy Pelosi said horrible things about Dr. Deborah Birx, going after her because she was too positive on the very good job we are doing on combatting the China Virus, including Vaccines & Therapeutics. In order to counter Nancy, Deborah took the bait & hit us. Pathetic!"

Pelosi was critical of Birx and the rest of the administration in an interview with ABC News' Martha Raddatz.

"I think the president is spending -- spreading disinformation about the virus and she is his -- she is his appointee," Pelosi said. "So, I don't have confidence there, no."
When told of this during a CNN interview, Birx said she had "tremendous respect" for Pelosi, and then criticized a New York Times article that accused her of having an overly optimistic attitude toward the pandemic. Birx said that while she had said that there has been an improvement in the New York metropolitan area, there were new outbreaks in Houston, Baltimore, New Haven, and Washington, D.C., as well as "ongoing cases" in Boston and Chicago.

"This was not a pollyannish view," Birx went on. "I’ve never been called pollyannish, or non-scientific, or non-data driven. I will stake my 40-year career on those fundamental principles of using data to implement better programs and save lives."

She also the spread of the virus is worse than earlier this year, saying “It is extraordinarily widespread.” The media is already pitting what Birx said against what Trump said on Friday:

Trump doesn’t get specific, but I think this must be what he is referring to in his tweet above suggesting she took the bait and ‘hit’ the administration.

A couple of hours before his tweet on Pelosi and Birx, Trump defended his administration, saying that despite New York and ‘a few other locations’, the US is doing “MUCH better than most other countries in dealing with the China Virus”:

Lead impeachment manager Democratic Rep. Adam Schiff says President Trump's lawyers made a "powerful case" on the Senate floor today as to why John Bolton ought to be called to testify.

Asked about the repeated attacks against him personally by Trump's team, Schiff called it "tactic" meant to distract from a "weak" case by the defense.
"I mean, this is again, a criminal defense tactic which is when the evidence is damning against your client, you attack the prosecution. So, there's nothing new or notable about that. Frankly, I'm surprised they haven't done more of that because the case is so weak," he said.
Asked by CNN if there's any situations where he would appear as a witness, Schiff said, "I don't have anything to add."
He added: "Why is it that the President can't call anyone who worked around him in his defense? And the answer is they know he's guilty. And so they want to throw up this false choice. Well, we're just going to seek to inflict pain on the other side by calling Hunter Biden or irrelevant people like Adam Schiff. The American people can see through that."

On behalf of many Republican Senators, including Hawley and Cruz, Ron Johnson submitted a question to both the House Managers and the President’s counsel regarding the Whistleblower and Sean Misko which Schiff didn’t like and refused to answer.
Rep. Adam Schiff: "This question refers to allegation in a newspaper article which are circulating smears on my staff and ask me to respond to those smears. I will not dignify those smears on my staff by giving them any credence whatsoever."
Watch:
The question which is too long to transcribe, related to the early 2017 meeting between whistleblower Eric Ciaramella, Sean Misko and Vindman where they were all overheard saying they needed to take Trump out. Johnson also wanted to know why Schiff suddenly hired Misko the day after Trump’s phone call with Zelensky and what role Misko played in the investigation.
As you can see from the tweet, Schiff took umbrage at the question and refused to answer it, calling it smears against his staff. He also berated Republicans for attacking the whistleblower, something he said the statute protects against. That portion starts at 1:55 in the video.
Trump’s legal team responded at 4:44, pointing out that Schiff is the one who made the whistleblower relevant, claiming he would testify. They also pointed out that the whistleblower statute only protects against retribution in terms of job loss and has nothing to do with the relevance of the whistleblower.

GOP Rep. Mike Turner: House briefing on Iran was “incredibly extensive”

President Trump asserts Iranian commander Qasem Soleimani plotted to blow up a US embassy before he was killed in a US drone strike.

During an interview on Iran, CNN’s Erin Burnett actually said that Iranians who chant “Death to America” don’t really mean it. Her evidence? They were really nice to her. From the Blaze:
“I will say I was in Tehran when they were chanting ‘Death to America’ once,” she noted. “I was at a rally. The people couldn’t have been more friendly to me personally as an American. It sort of felt … like a ‘thing’ and a trope as opposed to anything that actually was seriously meant and considered. I understand your point, but having been there, my experience was quite different.”
Then the expert guy chimed in and kinda embarrassed her:
“Erin, your entire life, Iran … has chanted ‘Death to America.’ And they have taken actions against Americans, American interests, in ways … that are lethal, killing Americans, giving weaponry to people who have intentions … to kill Americans,” he responded. “So it’s not just a slogan; this obviously is something Iran has systematically continued to do. It’s part of their seeking weapons of mass destruction and their claim to want to wipe Israel off the face of the Earth. These are real threats from the leadership of Iran even though — and I’m glad you had a safe and a warm response — the people on the street may be different than those who are controlling their military.”
I do think there’s a huge difference between the Iranian people, the majority of whom do not support the regime, and the murderous regime. BUT it’s crazy to think that people chanting “Death to America” don’t really mean it. I’m sure she’d give that benefit of the doubt to Trump supporters if they chanted “death to CNN” right? Riiiiight.
Here’s the video from MRC:

That is just nuts.
