Alibaba: First Order Dispute Protection Program
The “First Order Dispute Protection” is a special support program provided by Alibaba for new buyers who place their first Trade Assurance order. Under this program, if a dispute occurs and the buyer suffers a loss, Alibaba may offer a partial refund as a form of goodwill compensation.
Specifically, the program covers up to 50% of the buyer’s proven loss, with a maximum compensation limit of USD 30. The actual refund amount is calculated based on the lower value between 50% of the loss and the USD 30 cap. This compensation is usually funded by Alibaba, not by the seller.
The purpose of this program is to reduce risk for first-time buyers, improve buyer confidence, and ensure a fair shopping experience on the platform. It is a one-time offer and only applies to the buyer’s first Trade Assurance order. The compensation is not automatic and is typically granted after review by Alibaba’s customer service team.
It is important to note that this program does not replace a full refund from the seller. Buyers are still encouraged to negotiate or claim a full refund through the dispute process when appropriate. The First Order Dispute Protection is intended as additional support in cases where a full recovery is not possible.
