The premise seems simple enough: a holiday that turns into a nightmare. But as the visit progresses, the atmosphere shifts from awkward to downright chilling. The tension between the two families builds to a breaking point, leaving you on the edge of your seat, wondering which red flags would have been enough to make you flee.

Starring Demi Moore and Margaret Qualley, this sinister satire takes a sharp, disturbing look at the beauty industry, Hollywood, and ageism through the lens of a product known only as "The Substance."
The Substance is an injectable solution that allows you to "generate another you" with whom you must share your time. But, of course, things aren’t as simple as they seem. The film uses this premise to explore the consequences of this invention, combining body horror with a critique of our societal obsessions with youth, beauty, and self-image.
While The Substance is visceral in parts, and features strong performances, particularly from Demi Moore in what’s described as a career-best role, the film’s satirical tone sometimes feels more like a series of mild jabs than a full-throated deconstruction of the cultural gaze on beauty and sexuality. It revels in its excess without always meaningfully subverting it, making for a complex but intriguing watch.

While some bold quotes in the trailer may have been a bit exaggerated (or pulled from somewhere like ChatGPT), it only adds to the curiosity surrounding this film.
Whether Megalopolis ends up being a masterpiece or a spectacular failure is almost secondary to the intrigue surrounding it. 29. The Platform 2: The Gruesome Prison Returns
Following the success of The Platform, one of Mashable's best sci-fi films on Netflix, it was only a matter of time before the brutal and high-concept story got a sequel. The original introduced us to a chilling vertical prison where a table of food is lowered from the top, with prisoners waking up in a new, randomly assigned cell each month. The higher your level, the more you eat; the lower you go, the less chance you have of surviving. The survival game became a fight for resources — and life itself.
The Platform 2 brings viewers back to the same prison, but this time, there’s a new cast of characters facing even more chaos, bloodshed, and social commentary. If the teaser is any indication, this sequel will continue to explore the same harrowing dynamics with even more tension and suspense.
