MSNBC Host Criticizes Democrats: "Show More Concern for Trump and Musk"
In a fiery address last Saturday, MSNBC host Michael Steele – the former RNC Chair – didn’t hold back as he lambasted Democratic members for their apparent lack of concern over the widespread job losses and the early actions of President Donald Trump.
"I just want you all to show that you really care!" Steele declared. "Let your emotions show when you witness people losing their jobs indiscriminately! The man sitting at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue has granted absolute power to an individual, who then brought his own son into the Oval Office. Naturally, that son insists, ‘You’re not the president! You shouldn’t be in that chair!’ And where did he get that idea? He got it from his father – because that’s exactly how his father views the man who brought him into the Oval Office."
During the broadcast, Steele and his MSNBC colleagues discussed an article from The Nation—a progressive outlet—titled "The Courts Can't Stop the Trump-Musk Coup." The piece depicted Trump and Musk as "barbarians at the gate" and asserted that they would defy court orders.
Steele continued his outburst:
"They’re in your bedrooms! They’re in your living rooms! They’ve infiltrated your businesses! They have your data, you idiot! They have all your stuff!"
He argued that Elon Musk’s influence extends not only on the X platform but also reaches into the Treasury Department, the Labor Department, and the Department of Homeland Security.
"And no one seems to care! So, all I’m asking is for someone to have the guts to stand up, disregard the criticism, and speak out!"
Co-host Symone Sanders-Townsend also voiced concern about society’s future during the segment. She drew a parallel with the film "Civil War"—which depicted chaos engulfing Washington, D.C., and other parts of the country—warning that many Americans continue their daily lives as if "Rome isn’t burning."
In this context, Musk was portrayed as a figure attempting to "cut government waste" through the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). However, this initiative has faced opposition not only from the media but also from Democratic lawmakers. Former Democratic lawmaker Dean Phillips even remarked that members of the party appeared "pathetic" in their handling of the situation.
Through Steele and his colleagues’ remarks, the broadcast reflected the frustration felt by not only the media but also by politically engaged citizens, as they called for a more proactive, empathetic, and decisive response to the challenges threatening the lives of American people.
